Walking Netball comes to Berwick

If you are interested in playing netball but find the pace a little too much, then a new walking netball class that is about to start in Berwick could be for you.

Walking Netball is a slower paced version of the game; it is netball, but at a walking pace. The game has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level.

The new class will be run by Active Northumberland at the Swan Leisure Centre in Tweedmouth every Wednesday afternoon starting on February 26.

The session promises to be  fun and friendly and is all about having a good time, meeting new people whilst keeping active. There will be tea and coffee served afterwards.

Steven Temple, manager at the Swan Centre said:

“ People who played the game when they were younger never forget playing the sport and the memories as well as the love for the game remain.

“ From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, walking netball really is for everyone.

“ It can give those who feel isolated an outlet, provide an activity for those who don’t deem themselves fit enough to run anymore and offer a stepping stone for those looking for a pathway back into netball.”

The sessions will  cost £2 per week and start on Wednesday 26 between 1.30 -2.30pm.

Those wishing to take part can just turn up at the centre wearing comfortable clothing and trainers. There is no need to book. Just turn up on the day.
