Donate unwanted fitness clothes and equipment to charity fundraiser
A plea is being made for donations of unwanted fitness clothes which will be used to raise funds for HospiceCare North Northumberland.
The collection is being organised by Alnwick based walking group Mind and Sole and items can be dropped off at Willowburn Sports Centre in Alnwick and the Swan Centre in Berwick. The clothes need to be clean and in good condition and be sport or fitness related. Sports equipment would be welcome too.
The clothes swap event, called a Sports Swish, is to be held on Saturday 26 October 11am- 3pm
at Willowburn Sports Centre in Alnwick. Every item of clothing will be £1 to buy.
The larger items of equipment will have a higher price tag and the money received from the sale of these items will be halved between HospiceCare and the donor.
Christine Smith who is organising the event said: “I thought a Sport Swish event would be a fantastic way of clearing out our cupboards and raising funds for such an important local charity.
“ We want as many people as possible to get involved. I’d urge everyone to look through all their fitness clothing and equipment and donate any unwanted items. It doesn't matter if its children or adults as long as it is in good condition but to help with the organisation we’d like items dropped off before the event.”
HospiceCare North Northumberland is the main provider of palliative care in North Northumberland. It supports adults who have a life-limiting illness such as cancer, heart failure, motor neurone disease, Parkinson and advanced dementia as well as supporting their families and carers.
