Local residents and Active Northumberland gym members are being encouraged to take part in the 2019 Let’s Move Global Challenge, aimed at reducing obesity, promoting wellness and bringing local communities together.
The challenge is being run by Technogym, a world leading wellness company and will run from March 11 to March 30.
Participating Active Northumberland centres are Ashington, Concordia, Prudhoe Waterworld and The Swan Centre, Berwick.
During the challenge, individual members will simply log into their mywellness account on Technogym equipment and track their workouts to document their MOVEs. Each participant’s MOVEs will be automatically added to their facility’s grand total and give you chances to win prizes.
The facilities that gather the required number of MOVEs will be able to donate Technogym equipment to the institutions or schools of their choice to help fight obesity and sedentary lifestyles.
The more physical activity that is recorded, the greater chance Active Northumberland has of being able to donate equipment to local concerns. Last year Ashington Leisure Centre came 28th out of the whole of the UK.
To give everyone the same chance and opportunity, irrespective of age, sex and level of physical ability, Technogym have created the MOVE, a new way to measure physical activity that connects the whole community.
To sign up to this year’s challenge, simply speak to a fitness instructor at your participating centre.
