Riversides' Delia scoops Top Award

Congratulations to Active Northumberland employee  Delia Evans who has recently been awarded the Outstanding Employee of the Year Award by Community Leisure UK.

Delia is the catering supervisor of the  cafe at Morpeth Riverside Leisure Centre and has worked there for 25 years. Her hard work ethic and infectious personality is the driving force behind its success.

Going beyond the call of duty, Delia runs several charity events throughout the year, and goes out of her way to entertain the children by bringing in face painters, crafts people and hosting mini events.

Ami Cook, Manager at the Riverside Leisure Centre said:

“ The cafe in the Riverside Leisure Centre is old and  dated, but despite this lots of parents with their children choose to  spend a morning or afternoon in the cafe drinking coffee or eating their lunch because of Delia’s infectious, welcoming personality and delicious food.

“ This was a national competition so we are thrilled that the judges recognised how special Delia is and that she has had the recognition she deserves for all her hard work and her charitable contributions to the local community.”

The Community Leisure UK Awards 2019 recognise, showcase and honour the extraordinary impact of public leisure and cultural services throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
