Earlier in the year we announced the £5 million pound investment by Northumberland County Council into the facilities at Blyth Sports Centre, which we will see a major upgrade and renovations to the facility.
The first phase of works includes replacement of the Pool Plant,upgrade to the Pool Hall and Changing Rooms, due to these range of works taking place we unfortunately have to close both pools and associated Health Suite facilities from Monday 26th August.
The works cannot take place safely without the closure and we anticipate a 16 week period for the renovations to complete, we appreciate in advance your patience during this period but we are sure that you will be delighted with the results.

I currently have a Fitness Membership, does this mean I get a reduction or refund?
As your membership gives you access to the gym, fitness classes and pool at any of our facilities across Active Northumberland such as Ashington Leisure Centre or Concordia Leisure Centre, we will not be offering any refunds or reductions during the period.
If you wish, you may freeze your membership with us which if is the case we kindly ask you to contact us by 15th August 2019. If you do choose to freeze your membership with us no further payments will be taken from you throughout the closure and will be automatically reactivated once the pool is scheduled to reopen.
I have a Swim Only membership, what happens for me?
We have automatically setup for our Swim Only members to have their membership frozen during the pool closure. Should you wish to continue swimming at one of our Active Northumberland sites whilst Blyth’s pool is closed then please contact us on 01670 620200, no later than 15th August 2019 to ensure your membership remains active during this period.
Why can’t I access the Health Suite during the works?
Our Health Suite (Sauna & Steam room) will not be available during the works as we are not able to provide safe access to the facilities. Although the Health Suite will not be upgraded during these works, there are proposals in place next year. Watch this space.
What is happening to my / my child’s swimming lessons?
We have contacted all of our Learn 2 Swim scheme members at Blyth to provide alternative arrangements. We are looking to move all of our lessons to either Ashington Leisure Centre or Concordia Leisure Centre. Should this not be appropriate for yourself we are able to freeze your membership. Should you decide to freeze your subscription, your child will still benefit from free public swimming at any of Active Northumberland pools.
My child does swimming lessons with their school, how will these be impacted?
We have already contacted all of the local schools who bring their children to sessions with us. Please contact your school direct who will be able to advise you on where and when your child will be swimming.
What is happening to the Toning Tables?
Toning Tables will be temporarily relocated to an alternative part of the building, this is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday 21st August.
