Children and young people from across the county will have the chance to get active and have fun this summer with the launch of the Active Northumberland Summer Holiday Programme.
With the school holidays just around the corner, Active Northumberland has lined up an action-packed programme of fun activities to keep young children entertained throughout the summer months - and many of them are free!
A wide selection of activities will be laid on right across the county including gymnastics, swimming, archery, tennis, trampolining, paddlesports, football, cricket, athletics, clip 'n climb, tenpin bowling and much more.
Opportunities will be available for all ages - from tots to teens - of varying abilities and interests.
There will also be sports camps run by fully qualified, experienced and enthusiastic coaches.
Northumberland County Councillor, Cath Homer, cabinet member responsible for leisure said:
“ Over the six weeks summer holidays it can sometimes be difficult to keep children occupied and entertained. The Active Northumberland holiday programme provides a fantastic way for children to keep active, develop new skills, have fun and make friends, all within a safe environment There are also lots of activities that can be done as a family and I encourage parents and guardians to take a look at the opportunities on offer and come along and get involved.”
Many of the activities are ‘turn up sessions’ where you complete the registration form and turn up and play. Other activities must be booked in advance to secure your place.
