Blyth to Russia

Help us beat Blyth’s World Cup challenge

Local residents are being invited to take part in the Blyth World Cup Challenge which aims to take Blyth Sports Centre to Russia in time for England’s first fixture at the World Cup.

The challenge will take place  Saturday 16 June at the sports centre and participants can  swim, run, walk, jog or row for free. Everyone who takes part will receive a medal.

It is hoped by the end of the day when all the distances are added up they will come to 2,500 miles - the distance between Blyth and Russia.

Lee Paris, the manager of Blyth Sports Centre said:

“ We thought this would be a really great challenge to get everyone into the spirit as the country gears up for the World Cup. We need lots of people to take part to clock up the miles so whatever your age or fitness level please sign up and join in the free fun.”

The event will run from 9am - 5pm on Saturday 16 June and is being run by  Active Northumberland in partnership with Blyth Town Council. Anyone who is up for taking part is asked to  pre-book a free one hour slot in the pool or gym by calling 01670 620200.
