Active Northumberlands Wentworth Leisure Centre is laying on two new and innovative pool based fitness sessions to encourage more people to use their local swimming pool over the summer.
Hydrofit Juniors and Floatfit sessions are both low impact exercise classes that use water resistance to improve aerobic fitness, core strength and weight loss.
Hydrofit Juniors is a pool based cardio and strength workout designed to entice your kids to get off the sofa and into the pool. It is a fun and effective class that improves strength, fitness and coordination. It is suitable for juniors aged 8 - 14 years old and will be running through the summer.
Floatfit is a fun pool based high intensity 30 minute HIIT session that will give you a full body workout, helping to strengthen your aerobic stamina, tone and condition your whole body and improve muscular endurance.
You'll use a float called an AquaBase board and work through different exercises including lunges, squats, aqua climbers, v-sits - all on water! It is open to everyone, especially those who are looking to do something different.
The new classes are part of the Take The Plunge initiative, a Sport England scheme designed to help increase participation in the swimming.
