Over 100 people from Blyth and the surrounding area turned up to Blyth Sports Centre to
take part in the World Cup challenge where participants clocked up the distance in miles from Blyth to Russia by taking part in sport.
People of all ages and abilities turned up on the day to swim, run, walk, jog or row for free and when all the distances were added up they exceeded the 2,500 mile distance from Blyth to Russia where the World Cup is taking place.
Lee Paris, the manager of Blyth Sports Centre which is run by Active Northumberland said:
“ It was a really great challenge and it was fantastic that so many people came along to support us, enter into the World Cup spirit and smash our target distance.”
