From wedding dress to running shoes as new bride runs Kielder
A couple of newlyweds, just back from their honeymoon chose the Kielder 10km for their first official run together last weekend.
Joanne and her husband Chris from North Broomhill returned from their two week honeymoon in Rhodes, and jumped straight into their running shoes to take part in the 10km race.
Joanne started running in 2015 and with exercise and a change in her eating habits has lost an impressive five stone.
Her enthusiasm and determination to keep fit earned her a free place in the Active Northumberland Kielder 10kms race after her personal fitness journey impressed the judges.
“ I try and run a couple of times a week” said Joanne, “ I am by no means fast but I go out and try my best and I do enjoy it. My husband wanted to run at Kielder for his first official run so we decided it would be nice to do it together.”
Joanne added: “ Our 10 year old son Cadeyrn also took part in the Junior Kielder run so it has been a great family weekend. The event was really well organised and the atmosphere was fantastic. We stopped up in Kielder for the weekend and loved supporting our family and friends taking part in other events. We can’t wait until next year.”
Northumberland county Councillor, Cath Homer cabinet member with responsibility for leisure said:
“ Congratulations to Joanne on being one of our worthy prize winners. Kielder is a spectacular setting so it is easy to see why the weekend, which offers a range of race distances, has become a firm favourite with people setting themselves new personal challenges to take part.”
