Exercise and nutrition programme launched at Concordia
A new exercise and nutrition challenge is to be launched at Cramlington’s Concordia Leisure Centre in the New Year aimed at supporting and encouraging local residents to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle.
The six week programme has been designed to help participants to get fit, lose weight and keep on track in a sensible and sustainable way.
Those that join up will be eligible to attend up to five weekly exercise classes of their choice. They will also receive a weekly weigh in and nutrition and lifestyle advice.
A full fitness assessment will be given at the beginning and end of the 6 week course which will include weight, height, body fat composition, BMI measurements, and a fitness test.
As an extra incentive, those who lose 12 lbs over the six week period will win a FREE one month Active Northumberland membership to encourage them to keep up their good work. The person who loses the most weight on the programme will win a three month membership.
Northumberland County Councillor Cath Homer, cabinet member for leisure said:
“To successfully lose weight and achieve long term lasting results you need to have a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle, and this is the aim of the programme. It is not a quick fix. It is about educating and helping people to make small but important changes in their daily lives that could have a big and lasting impact on their health and fitness.”
Active Northumberland Members can sign up to the programme for £35. ( £5.83 / week). For non members it is £75 (£12.50 / week).
Enrollment is starting 3rd January 2018 with the fitness assessments taking place between 22-26th of January and the full programme beginning the following week 29th January.
Weigh ins and lifestyle sessions will take place on Wednesday mornings at 9.45am and on Thursday evenings from 5.45pm for those who are unable to make the morning session.
